Former Athletic Bilbao captain Iker Muniain is still hoping to fulfil a childhood dream by signing for River Plate, although the situation remains unclear following the change of coach.

Iker Muniain’s agent Omar Rodriguez has confirmed the former Athletic Bilbao star is still hopeful of signing for his boyhood club River Plate despite a change of manager.
Muniain will leave Athletic Bilbao, where he has been since the age of 11, when his contract expires this summer, but it remains unclear where the 31-year-old forward will take his next steps amid changes at River Plate.
Muniain had previously agreed a deal in principle with River Plate, but things changed after Martin Demichelis was sacked and the club brought back Marcelo Gallardo as head coach earlier this month, with reports suggesting the Argentine side have shifted their focus away from Muniain.
However, Rodriguez, Muniain’s agent, insists ยูฟ่าเบท the 31-year-old forward is still waiting for a move to El Monumental to fulfill his childhood dream.
‘Iker continues to reject important offers because he still has hope to play for River Plate after his decision to leave Athletic Bilbao. When I first sat down with Iker to see what his plans were, he told me: ‘I want to play for River.’
‘He’s 31 years old, physically fit and he wants to fulfill his dream. He doesn’t care about money or being away from his family for a while. He just wants to wear the River Plate shirt and win the Libertadores,’ Muniain’s agent said.
